It depends on the cut, clarity and setting. You could buy a cloudy piece of crap for under a grand or a clean, well-cut and nicely set in platinum for over $15,000. I bought a diamond once that was 1.35 carats, VVS clarity F-H color and I paid $250 to have it recut for it 's best look and balance, losing about .03 of a carat in the making. I then had a custom setting cast and when it was finished, it was valued at over $11,000. I paid just under $4,000 total. You really have to be careful to know how to look at diamonds and try and buy a loose stone and have it set...you 'll save money and get a better quality stone. |
