Diamond Engagement Ring

Question: Do you think it's silly to wear a large diamond engagement ring all the time?

I sold my very large diamond ring about a year ago to pay off car loans and now my son is in preschool where I& #039;m around a lot of very wealthy women that wear these HUGE diamond rings on their fingers every day. They& #039;re all a lot older than me (I& #039;m 27 and they& #039;re all around 40.) Well I haven& #039;t replaced that diamond ring with anything and thinking about getting just a gold band. I thought it was typical to wear just a band for it& #039;s more practical. I used to scrape the heck out of everything with my diamond before. I have a new philosophy in life about spending and debt. I really don& #039;t even care about having a ring at all other than it will at least make me look married. Are these women showing off with their HUGE diamond rings, and is it normal to wear those humongous things your whole life?

Yes. Women love to show off their rings. I knew of lady that had a diamond so big she could cut a tunnel thru a glass mountain.

In your question, you seem to be on the fence about how you really feel. But, either you are insecure or you are not. If you need a big diamond ring to feel better about yourself.. You are probably not focused on the right thing. But, if you care about what these women think ?? Yes.. they ARE judging you by the size of your diamond.. and you don 't have one....

If that is their engagement ring they should wear it all the time. Maybe their finances allow them to have a ring that big, so that is not your business. I think that if my husband/ boyfriend got me an engagement ring I would wear it every day whether it is big or not just like I would expect him to wear his wedding band every day.

It is very normal to wear your engagement ring all the time. If a band works for you, wear a band...if you want to wear your engagement ring, wear it. It 's really a personal choice.

If I was married then I would have an engagement ring (diamond and silver) and then a wedding ring (silver band) I think if you don 't have either of these then you should at least have a band just to show that you are married however you don 't have to if you choose not to. If you think that you will do without it and that you don 't need it to show everyone your married then you do what you want. It all depends on the person at the end of the day and what they like.

Heck yeah if I had a big diamond I 'd be wearing it and not only to show off how big of a diamond you have but also to show that you are married. I think that unless you have a bunch of extra cash it would be silly to but a new diamond to replace the one you sold but I would but a new band so that people will know that you are married.

It has to do with them wanting people to believe they have money. allot of houses in my area are being foreclosed on because people who cant afford them buy these huge houses them have no furniture in them and when they have a party or something they just rent furniture. Its a stupid thing but I guess it 's all about making people think your high class and rich. these women just want to show off "look at how much my husband loves me " its sad really. its not so much the cost but the thought and allot of people nowadays don 't seem to understand that.

Well an engagement ring would be pointless if you only wore it during your engagement at the same time those women came from a different time where diamonds were a social status not just a ring its not really considered tacky to wear it all the time whatever you are comfortable with

Whatever size your engagement ring is, it is. You are never supposed take it off in public.
