Question: Are there any diamond engagement ring alternatives?
(Posted by: SSWildcat on 2008-06-20 01:04:13)
My Girlfriend is opposed to diamonds, particularly the ones that come from Africa. Are there any alternatives to a Diamond Engagement Ring? I have searched on the internet and all that I can find is cubic zirconia, and the like. I don& #039;t like fake diamonds. I want something real, and priceless. Any Ideas? |

I would think about getting her the "birthstone " of the month you either started to date or of another important date to the two of you. THat would mean something to her and to you but go along with her wishes of not wanting a diamond and you not wanting something fake. Or you could look for a pearl. It is very simple, beautiful, and traditional. Look around on the internet for shops close to the both of you. Then randomly ask her one day if she would like to go jewerly shopping (like a rainy day event!) That way you can see what she likes and what catches both of your eyes, maybe once you get her out and looking she will decide she does like diamonds... Get her loved ones in on this! It will make the choice that much easier on you! |

I would get her an engagement ring with her birthstone.. or go with maybe a pearl ring because pearls are classic.. |

Get a precious stone instead like an emerald, which is actually the rarest stone on the planet in a fancy cut. And fyi Africa Diamonds are illegal to sell in America so any jewelry store in America is prohibited to sell African diamonds. |

Certified Moissanite looks much like a diamond I guess maybe a high grade CZ. I just read an article that people have been purchasing to avoid diamonds due to the issuses in africa. check this site out promolk.com/ v2007/ about.php |

Does she have another favorite stone? Ruby? Sapphire?etc... Another thing is Moissenite (obviously not the right spelling, but pronounced: moy-suh-night, accent on moy). It looks like a diamond, and those tiny machines that jewelers have that say "Beep! This is a diamond " can not tell that the stone is not a diamond. That would be a very nice alternative. |

My ring is a tsavorite, which I guess is really rare....it looks like a green emerald.... Everyone loves it and woman are using any stones in their rings nowadays so ask what her favorite is. |

Any ring you choose is appropriate, Princess Diana`s engagement ring from Prince Charles was a Sapphire surrounded by small diamonds. Any precious stone you like is suitable, no law says it need be a diamond. |

Anything that came from the heart is a great engagement ring. Her birth stone would be nice. |

Diamonds are produced in several places other than Africa, including Russia and Canada. Canada has a reputation for fine quality diamonds that are 100% conflict free, ethical, and mined in a way that respects the Canadian Arctic land. Canadian diamonds are real diamonds, not crystals or quartz -but true diamonds. They were only recently discovered in the Northwest and quickly gained a reputation for their beauty, their quality and that they are the most ethical diamonds available.
