What is a reasonable price to buy a diamond engagement ring for?
Im trying to figure out a reasonable price to buy a diamond ring that is 0.71 Cts. Round Brilliant cut, Polish Good to Very Good, Symmetry Very Good, SI1, Color Grade E. Comes with diamond certificate from E.G.L. also mounted on a platinum 6 prong. The asking price is $3,900. Is this a good price? if not what should I be paying?

Black diamond engagement ring?
My boyfriend and I are looking at an engagement ring that is 18K white gold with a 2.1 carat black diamond clarity opaque I am told this is the only grading that black diamonds have as you cannot see through them and 48 small white diamonds that are 0.01 carat each, making the ring total 2.58 carats. We don& 039 t have much of a clue about making such a big purchase, but the best price we can get for this ring is $5900. Can somebody who has an idea please tell me if this is reasonable?

I sold my very large diamond ring about a year ago to pay off car loans and now my son is in preschool where I& 039 m around a lot of very wealthy women that wear these HUGE diamond rings on their fingers every day. They& 039 re all a lot older than me I& 039 m 27 and they& 039 re all around 40. Well I haven& 039 t replaced that diamond ring with anything and thinking about getting just a gold band. I thought it was typical to wear just a band for it& 039 s more practical. I used to scrape the heck out of everything with my diamond before. I have a new philosophy in life about spending and debt. I really don& 039 t even care about having a ring at all other than it will at least make me look married. Are these women showing off with their HUGE diamond rings, and is it normal to wear those humongous things your whole life?
The 1.73 carat round cut diamond engagement ring i just purchased last month and used to propose to my fiance?
has chipped. She just found a small chip visible to naked eye on the girdle side of the diamond. We have owned the stone for just over 30 days It was not chipped when we got it I examined it very closely under a loop several times I did add a rider to my homeowners policy with State Auto and paid the premium for policy last month. I contacted the jeweler yesterday and he sounded somewhat shocked. he says if it is chipped he will give me paperwork I can show to my insurance company and he says they will give me the replacement value. I paid approximately 5k for the diamond in the setting from a well known wholesale jewelry who has been in business for over 25 yrs in minneapolis. I dont want to make a claim on my insurance that will affect my rating or cause increases in my rates. I feel like the jeweler is screwing me. My fiance is very careful with her ring and did not hit the ring on anything, she does not even wear the ring to work. What should i do? Will my insurance really pay, what if they won& 039 t. my fiance really wants the problem addressed, she just got the darn thing
